IQ Puzzle #5 - Explanation

The answer to this one does not need an image and Brittany from the comments section actually did an awesome job of explaining the puzzle. She said
"3C or 9A are my guess. If you turn each letter into it's corresponding number A=1, B=2, etc. Then multiply the 2 numbers together you get
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8
Therefore to get nine you could say 3C (3x3), or 9A (9x1)!"
That is spot on! I awarded one point to convictus for guessing one of the right answers first, and two points to Brittany for not only guessing both answers but providing an explanation as well. In case her explanation did not make sense here is my quick run through:

If you begin by treating all letters (A,B,C and D) in this puzzle as numbers with their corresponding values as A=1, B=2, C=3 and D=4 then you end up with a pattern of two numbers in each box. Multiplying these numbers together leaves you with a pattern starting at the top left with the number 1, then 2 in the top middle, 3 in the top right etc. Think:

1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8

This leaves you with the bottom right most likely being 9 which thinking back to the beginning can be represented as 9A (9x1) or 3C (3x3). Hope that makes sense! Also the next puzzle I will be releasing is going to be near impossible to solve, just thought I would warn you all.

  1. Lol, seriously take my point away, I guessed based on vertical pattern that made no sense! I suck at the logic stuff apparently. last column 1c, 2c, 3c. Lol. the 7c was because top left and top right matched, middle left and middle right matched, so next option was bottom right and bottom left or 7c. I did not see the actual pattern at all.
